At Emanuel we believe in the importance of
youth. As a result, we have many opportunities for youth of all ages
to come and fellowship as well as learn. We are constantly adapting
our programs to fit the needs of our youth. Below is a brief list
and summary of our programs.
Sunday School - We have a variety of Sunday
morning programs serving preschool children through high school students. The Sunday School younger grade classes are currently using the Spark curriculum, published by Augsburg Fortress. The Junior High age students are currently studying the Letters of Paul and the High School age students are studying the Book of Hebrews. More

Seekers
in Sneakers – This group is for K – 6th grade.
It meets regularly on Thursday evenings from 6 – 7 pm. Mary Ann leads
this group with help from some of our high school youth. The evening usually
consists of games and a lesson. The Seekers group also works on plays and musicals. Lesson topics vary but all have to do with
teaching about God’s word and how to apply it in everyday life.
Confirmation – Confirmation is a class for 7th & 8th
graders. It meets on Thursday nights from 6 – 7 pm. This class
is led by Pastor Luehr and Pastor Laherty . This
year’s class is studying the Bible. Students are also partnered with an adult mentor, who will walk with them and guide them through the two-year process.
Jr. & Sr. High – Our Junior and Senior High groups meet separately. The Junior High group meets Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Our Senior High group meets on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM. These meetings are led by Janine. Topics are various as we try to give the youth of this
age a chance to talk about their walk with Christ and how they can
be better prepared for everyday challenges. While this is Bible-based,
it is very different from your basic Sunday School setting. We have
other activities we do at other times as well, including beach trips
and other fun getaway activities.
Summer Activities – We
like to go to summer camps. In the summer we have opportunities for
our youth to go to Thousand Pines Christian Camp.
This is a camp for all ages and each session is a week long. In the
winter we have our Confirmation Retreat. Locations vary, but we like
to try to go somewhere that we can do our own thing and just bond
as a group. Our young people have also participated in mission trips and other service projects. Other camps we have done in the past – whitewater
rafting, rock climbing, and home building to name a few.
